This weekend sees the return to action for The Colls after a weekend off. Pontefract Collieries will make the trip east for our 20th league game of the season, where we will be hosted by Bridlington Town.
Previous results between the two sides have in recent times gone the way of Ponte. Earlier this season Ponte Colls ran out 2-0 winners in the home fixture, goals were scored by Redford and Gordon. You would then have to go back to the 17/18 season for the previous fixtures, as the two met in the NCEL Premier Division – were The Colls were able to do the double over our fellow Yorkshire club. An away win in October by 1-3, Luke Jeffs and a Mikey Dunn brace settled that game. The home fixture that year saw a 2-0 home win – Kieran Scargill and Aaron Moxam sealing the win.
But with both sides in strong recent form, each side will fancy their chances to pull away from the relegation places. Ponte lie in 7th place and Brid in 8th in the form guide over their last 6 games each, both winning three, drawing one and losing the other two however Ponte have a superior goal difference of +3 (Brid’s is -1).
We look forward to seeing many Colls fans making the journey with a number of fans securing seats on the club bus, plus a number making their own way there. Fans have been invited to wear their flat caps for the game in homage to our very own Ponte Blinder!
See you there Colls fans!
