Browny back for 22/23

The Colls recently confirmed our retained list for the coming 2022/23 Northern Premier League North East Division. Scott Brown was amongst those players and we caught up with him to discuss all things from his return from his loan, Brown Dogs and aspirations for next season.

Welcome back for another year at Ponte, last season you had a brief loan spell but on your return you really nailed down a place. How did you rate your season?

I’m very happy to back here again for another season. Was an easy decision after speaking with Rousey and the management team. The loan spell last year was probably the thing that helped me the most last season, I was in need of game time and that got me to where I needed to be in terms of fitness. The full season was up and down for me really, I know personally I can be much better than the standards I was at last season.

What can we take from that second half of the season, into this coming season?

The first half of the season is forgotten in my opinion and the thing we need to concentrate on is taking the last half of the season into the next. We know as a group what we can achieve individually and as a whole. It’s a special group and no doubt if we play like we did the latter half of last year, we will be right up there challenging.

Many people will have heard it around the grounds home and away, but how do you feel about dogs being nicknamed by the fans in honour of you?

Yes I’ve seen the posts on social media and people talking. It’s a first for me to be honest, but it’s great. Ive been at the club a long time and it’s brilliant to see new people down watching us and supporting this club. Because it’s special, on and off the field.

Finally, what are your goals for the season ahead both personally and as a team?

Personally, goals for me are just to cement a place in the starting 11 and help the team as much as possible. As a group, we want to be up there. Challenging for the top 6 in this league is always tough, but this group has the belief and ability to do that, and then some.
