Colls stay extends for Bailey

Fabian Bailey is amongst the longest serving players at the club as he heads into his fifth consecutive Pontefract Collieries League campaign in a row. We caught up with the utility man who had this to say on his return;

Welcome back Fab, you’re one of the longer serving players now. Tell us how pleased you are to be with us again this season?

It’s great to be back for another season and be a part of the club. When we had our meeting it was a no brainer, I’ve worked with the management team and most of the players a while now and we know what we want to achieve this season and how one another plays.

You’ve shown a couple of different sides to your game over last season, what are you looking for from next season?

I want to be in the starting XI week in week out, no matter where I play. We didn’t have the best of starts last season in the league so a good start to this years campaign will set us off in good spirits, to hit the top six where I think we all think we belong.

You’ve seen the fan base continue to grow and become more vocal home and away, how important can they be this season?

The fans were incredible this year, everyone saw that with our FA Cup run we had and even after the FA Cup more and more fans seemed to be coming through the gate each week. It gives us lads a massive boost when things might not be going our way on the pitch, when the fans are singing in support behind the lads hopefully we can get the same following again this year.

Finally what we can expect from the group this season?

We want to be aiming to be as high up the league as possible, top six is achievable with the lads and management in the dressing room and also the fans support. There should be plenty of goals with the way we take the game to teams too.
