All at the club are delighted to break the news that we have won £25k worth of materials from Buildbase.
After a rigorous process, the club can confirm that we have been successful and have been selected to receive 50% of the £50k Buildbase Community Award.
The Colls received over 7,500 votes in the initial online vote to receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ entry into the final part of the process. This was followed by a select panel of Buildbase and FA representatives selecting their winner. We as a club were required to submit a short video and carry out a presentation in front of the panel.
“We are so grateful to have won the Buildbase bursary and thank everyone from Buildbase and everyone involved in the panel for awarding us.
Not only will the bursary improve our Football Club, but it allows us to build on the support we are already giving our community. We will continue to support and engage with our local community to ensure that Pontefract the wider Wakefield District is as strong and vibrant as it can be. We are proud to be part of such a fantastic Town and we look forward to working with the community in the future to improve the long-term prospects of its people.” Trevor Waddington and Tom Wiles Chair and Vice Chair at the club.
As you may be aware already, the club showcased the work we have carried out in the community over the last 12 months, as well as plans to increase our community output in the future too. The food hub is a key area in our proposal as we want to be able to build on the work, by installing a kitchen and improving our storage space.
Now successful, the club will also be looking to use the bursary to renovate the remainder of the main stand to improve access and improve match day experience.
The materials sourced by one of our local Buildbase branches will also allow the club to renovate changing rooms, finish off the bar refurbishments and improve our current toilet facilities.
The club is extremely grateful to each and every person, whether a supporter of the club or just appreciative of the food hub, who voted and has since backed our proposals.
