We are delighted to confirm the expansion of the women’s game, with the introduction of a further TWO teams at senior level for women’s football at Pontefract Collieries.
From the 2023/24 season we will have a team registered in the West Riding County Division four (tier 6 of the women’s pyramid), along with another team joining the Women’s Beginners Leagues to supplement our current team in the beginners league.
After what can only be described as a successful first season for our Pontefract Collieries Cougars (women’s team), plans to expand have come quicker than would have been imagined. Our ladies this campaign have not only been successful on the pitch, but have seen playing numbers continue to increase.
With the addition of a new team brings new coaches and the club have moved quickly in appointing Jordan Makin as Head Coach and Russ Cotton as his Assistant Manager. Both men have experience in the women’s game and will be looking to build on the solid foundations already made.
We’ll bring you reaction from head of women’s and girls football Dave Hotchkiss plus our new management team in due course, so stay tuned.
