Young forward Adam Haw joined The Collieries in summer from Guiseley AFC, and has been quick to make an impact both on the pitch and on the terraces.
It isn’t always easy moving from the club you came through the ranks as youth, but Haw seems to have taken to life at Ponte – like a duck to water. Currently the leading goalscorer and now the September Player of the Month, he has shown why Craig Rouse was so keen to bring him to the club.
We spoke with Adam this week to discuss how things are going and what it’s like to have the fans firmly behind him;
Adam you’ve made a great start for The Colls this season, how pleased have you been with the start?
I am very pleased with my start to the season, but more importantly how we as a team have started the season. After a bit of a rocky start, we have dug deep and gone six games undefeated in the league – which is a brilliant achievement.
As a forward it’s important to get in the rhythm of scoring goals, how pleased have you been to put together a decent run of scoring this last month?
Really pleased, I had a good pre season scoring seven goals and got plenty of minutes which got my match fitness up. Having that made me hit the ground running and I’m glad I’ve continued that form into the start of the season – getting 10 goal contributions in 11 games.
In a short space of time you seem to have built a real connection with the fans, how pleasing has that been and how much does it help players?
We all do it for the fans, without them there’s no club. They really do make us keep giving our all and none of us will ever give less than that. Personally feel honoured as a new player to get sponsored by the fans (The Shed On Tour) and will definitely never let them down.
After a tough month and a positive return how important is it to put another run of results together?
Gutted with that last minute goal on Saturday, felt like we’d lost when coming off the pitch. We’ve got a really good team who play for each other, the gaffer is right on the money with how he’s wanting to set up for each game, so again on Saturday at home in-front of the fans we want to start another winning run. Loving it here!
Up the Colls!
