Craig Rouse has added more depth to the back line with the introduction of defender Jamie Sharman. The former Chesterfield Academy product joins from Bradford Park Avenue following a short spell after leaving Matlock Town earlier this campaign.
We caught up with Jamie to discuss his move to get his thoughts on joining the club;
Jamie welcome to The Colls, firstly tell us how pleased you are to be here and what attracted you to the club?
Yeah I’m very pleased to sign for the club, I’ve had a lot of chats with the manager in previous years but the timing has never really felt right. But the recent conversations we’ve had and seeing how the team is going in the league, it was something that really interested me and now I’m looking forward to getting back enjoying football again and hopefully helping the club get in the play offs and get promoted.
We know you are a defender, but tell us a little bit more of what type of player you are and what can fans expect?
I think my best attributes are that I’m strong and like a physical battle, but I can also bring a calmness to the team in terms of defending and on the ball.
Having played in the Northern Premier Division over the last few years, what will your experience add to the group?
Yeah I’ve reached the play offs the past two seasons with Matlock Town, but just came up short. So hopefully I can bring that experience in terms of pushing for the play offs and getting over the line in the really big games, in the run in towards the end of the season.
Finally do you have a message for your new supporters?
Really pleased to be here and let’s all have a good last few months of the season and make them play offs.
