Carlton Town Post Match Reaction – Joe Lumsden

Following Saturday’s home defeat to Carlton Town – we caught up with Assistant Manager Joe Lumsden.

Here’s what he had to say;

”Overall disappointing, I thought we started the better team and probably edged it until they scored. But as we said before the game, the team that makes the least mistakes will win the game and that’s what happened. We switched off from a short corner and at this level that can’t happen, they go and score. Then for their second it’s another mistake from us at the back and it’s 2-0, we are then chasing the game and unfortunately we didn’t show enough to get back into it at any point during the game.

We all spoke quite honestly after the game, we told them we believe in them and know they are all good players or they wouldn’t be at this club. We all have to be much better, myself included. We must trust each other on the pitch and believe in ourselves and each other more. It’s no time for panic yet we all know that we have to turn the results and performances around sooner rather than later.

Well it’s a local derby [Tuesday night v Emley AFC] against a team that are flying this year and sit top of the league. We know we are in for a tough game, but we are at home and we know that with the fans behind us we can make it a tough game for any team coming to our ground. So we all have to believe, come together and get behind the lads as we try turn things around.
