Pontefract Collieries Football Club prides itself on being more than just a football club.
As a football club founded in 1958 by the Coal Miners on the Prince of Wales land, the football team was a way for the workers to relax and play the beautiful game with their colleagues.
Now the football club has become an important part of the local community. We are home to more than 50 football teams, from our seniors both male and female to our academy teams to the juniors (including girls teams) and our disability teams. One motto the club likes to stand by is #FootballForAll.
The club over the last few years has improved on its community output and look to continue close work with our local community to make Pontefract a better place for all.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020, the football club launched the Pontefract Food Hub. The food hub regularly feeds 25 families and has proved to be a key part in supporting families during extremely difficult times. Whilst this was launched during the pandemic, the food hub will continue beyond the end of Covid-19 guidelines and will support those who need our support.
On the pitch the first team play in the Northern Premier League (North East). The team have had a great deal of success in recent years, including back to back promotions from NCEL Division One and NCEL Premier Division. Ponte came close to three consecutive promotions before falling at the play off final in 2019.
Now under the leadership of new First Team Manager Craig Rouse, the first team will be looking to push for more success and a potential promotion to the NPL Premier Division.
