Following the news of Jack Greenhough becoming Club Captain, we are also delighted to confirm Spencer Clarke as Vice Captain for the coming season.
Spencer has been a big player during his few spells at the club and has previously led the side, so this seems to be a no brainer. A fantastic player and a leader on and off the pitch.
We spoke to Spencer and Gaffer Craig Rouse about the announcement.
Rouse and the management team have chosen you to be Vice Captain, tell us how you feel?
It feels great – knowing the management team as I do the standards will be high on and off the field and are already there from the games played so far. It will be good to be part of keeping that standard going into every game.
You have led the club a number of times over the years, is this something you think is a strength to your game?
Yes it is, but everyone plays their part. As long as we have the right mentality as group then we’ll have a team of leaders heading into the season – helping get the best out of each other.
How much are you looking forward to getting back on the field in front of the fans?
Massively, it was good to get a few games in last month but I can’t wait to see the fans back and getting behind us once again.
Next up Craig Rouse for his thoughts on his new Vice Captain.
Spencer Clarke will be your vice captain, tell us how important his leadership will be to the squad?
Spen is a natural leader within the changing room, who’s standards always shine through. He never accepts anything less than 100% from everyone around him and leads by example week in week out.
After taking a little bit of a break last season we’re delighted he’s back with us and we know exactly what he brings to the role. He’s another great lad and he’ll have no hesitation in helping and supporting Jack where needed.
