Craig Rouse has confirmed the capture of Head Goalkeeping Coach – Leigh Herrick. The former Gainsborough Trinity ‘Keeper coach has joined the Colls and will team up with the rest of Rouse’s management team.
Leigh Herrick came through the ranks at Scunthorpe United, before going on to make a number of appearances in non league. Where he went on to face The Colls in the Northern Counties. In recent years Leigh has achieved his UEFA B license and has held roles at Bottesford and most recently Gainsborough.
We caught up with Leigh to discuss joining the Colls;
Hi Leigh, Welcome to the Colls! What made you want to join the club?
‘Rousey’ got in touch with when he heard I had left Gainsborough. I never liked playing at Ponte, it was like the Millwall of the NCEL. But I always admired what they did, Rousey then sold the club to me really. Explaining how it is a good community club and when you’re in it’s a great place to be. So I am really looking forward to finding out.
You have worked with Ryan (Musselwhite) before, what will you be expecting from him this season?
I have known Ryan for a long time, his dad even longer coming from my time at Scunthorpe. They are both perfectionists, workaholics and dedicated. I know what Ryan is capable of , as does everyone at Ponte. My expectations of him will be simple, being consistent. And Consistently good!
Are you looking forward to get in and around the group in the coming weeks?
I’ve missed football through COVID. The Gainsborough job was just what I needed at the time but it never got the chance to get going. Essentially I have had two years out of football, so now i’m looking forward to coming in and meeting the group, understanding the dynamics and what I can do to help push us up the league.
