The Colls ran out 1-0 winners against a resilient Grantham Town side, on a tricky pitch at Beechnut Lane thanks to Bailey Thompson’s close range header.
Despite Grantham’s lowly league position they made the Colls work hard to break the deadlock.
The first half saw close chances for Chorlton, Haw and Thompson without really testing the Grantham keeper. The second half continued in similar fashion with Smythe and Chorlton unlucky not to find the back of the net.
It was Bailey Thompson who eventually scored for Ponte, a cleared corner was swung back in by Connor Smythe and nodded home at the far post by Thompson.
The victory sends Craig Rouse’s boys up into 3rd, with an away trip to North Ferriby on Tuesday.
