What a week for the lads, they faced one of their toughest tests to date as they hosted Britannia Juniors. They were recently crowned champions of the North West JPL and previously beat our lads in their only ever fixture.
The game was a feisty battle both on and off the field, with two red cards for each team and a number of yellow cards brandished. Ponte went behind after an even contest for the first half hour, but equalised right on half time. A wonder strike from a free kick, which saw the Britannia defender see red for a second bookable offence.
With the man advantage and the crowd behind them Ponte came out firing, they had a few early efforts drift high/wide. They finally grabbed their second after a free kick struck the post and the rebound was tapped in from close range.
Ponte then saw one of their men see red, another second bookable offence. This gave Britannia the impetuous and threw everything at the young Colls, but couldn’t quite find the finishing touch. They face Grantham Town in the cup this Saturday at De Lacy Academy, 2pm Kick Off so come and support the lads.
