Home town lad becomes Club Captain

As a club we are delighted to confirm that Jack Greenhough will lead the Colls this coming season. Jack returned to the club with a number of former players in March and will now captain his home town club.

Jack first signed first team terms in the summer of 2016, after a successful spell for our u19s. Five years down the line and a number of club and individual awards along the way.

We spoke to Jack and Craig Rouse about the announcement, first Jack had this to say…

You are now officially confirmed as club captain, tell us how much it means to you?

I’m honoured to be given the opportunity and absolutely buzzing to be named club captain. It means a lot to me that I have been given the responsibility to lead the club this year, It’s a big achievement and a chance for me step up. I really cannot wait to get going.

How proud of a moment will it be leading your home town team out for first time when fans return?

I can’t wait for that first game with fans, that’s going to go for everyone in the club as well, after from the difficult year we have all had. And as a squad we want all the fans to be involved this coming season we want to be able be approachable and sit in the bar after and chat with them it’s what this clubs always been about. But yes, it will be massive for me and it will be an incredibly proud moment not just for me, but my family as well with it been my home town club.

Are you looking forward to taking on the extra responsibilities in captaining the side?

I feel like it will progress my game to the next level with the extra responsibilities, so yeah I’m looking forward to them! I might be the one with the arm band but the group of lads that we have in the changing room, everyone of us are leaders in their own right and I will be the one to keep driving the standards on and not letting them slip throughout the season. With it been the first time captaining a side at this level I’m relishing the opportunity.

Here is what Craig Rouse had to say…

Jack will lead the side this season, tell us why he was your choice as Club Captain?

Anyone that’s watched Jack over the last four or five seasons will have noticed a marked improvement year on year in his performances, so he deserves this chance to take on the extra responsibility that comes with being club captain and I feel the time is right for him to progress himself further. His performances always lead by example and that’s something that we’ll want him to repeat again throughout the coming season.
He’s a loyal lad who gives his all week in week out for his teammates and I’ve no doubt he’ll do the same for the players off the pitch, which is why he deserves the chance to captain his local club.
I know he’s proud and excited to take on the role and we can’t wait to see him take the next step with us.
