Jack Lazenby signs on for what could be his second full season at Ponte. He first joined in the Autumn of the 20/21 season and played a key role across the full season. We caught up with him to discuss this season, his targets for next your and the importance of the fans.
Welcome back Jack, heading into your second full year how much are you looking to get this year underway?
Thanks mate, happy to be here. I’m really looking forward to getting going again. Last season was disappointing for me personally, as I thought I never got going due to injuries and suspensions. I’m looking forward to kicking on and having a go this year.
You played your part in some big games and big atmospheres last season, how important is the part the fans play in this season?
The fans played a big part in last season, I think you can see that in the results after Christmas. After the Halifax games the crowds improved massively and that gives the lads a massive boost, when you see everyone there. It would be great to see everyone down again next year, to give us the support we received for the majority of last year.
You chipped in with a couple of goals last season, is that something you’re looking to build on this year?
Like I said at the start, I felt I never got going last year so to end up with a couple of goals is a bonus. I’ve managed to get myself on penalties now which should add to my tally, so i’m hoping to more than double the amount I got this year next season.
Finally what can we expect from yourself and the boys this coming season?
Personally I think you can expect a little more consistency from myself this year, in terms of being involved and playing. As a team, we will certainly be looking to challenge at the top half of the league. I think you can see after Christmas we improved massively and competed with the best sides last year and there’s no reason why we can’t be up there this year.
