We caught up with manager Craig Rouse following a point on the road at Lincoln United. Here’s what he had to say;
Rousey, a trying afternoon at Lincoln. What was your verdict on the game?
Overall I thought we were a long way from the levels we’ve set since this group was assembled. We didn’t deserve to lose the game but also didn’t do enough to win it, so we’ll take the point and clean sheet and move forward with it.
Another clean sheet, it’s giving us a real platform to build from. How pleasing is the run of defensive displays been?
Six clean sheets from the last eight gives us a real platform to build from, so that’s an aspect we can can be pleased with. I always say a clean sheet is earned by the entire team the same way a win is, so the togetherness and fight for each other and the club is something we can use to make sure we reach the standards and expectations we set as a group.
We’ve struggled up top recently, what would you put it down to and what are your plans to get the lads back firing as we look to Stockton next week?
Overall I don’t think we’ve created enough as a team and that ultimately has affected us at the top end of the pitch.
The same I credit a clean sheet to the entire team we also know that goals need to come from the entire squad, so that’s what we’ll use going forward. We’ll try and take the positives of the clean sheet and remain solid while trying to strike the balance of creating more chances for us to get on the end of.
We’re in a much better position that we were three months ago and that gives us the freedom to work on these things with the players.
