Post Match | Rouse has his say…

We caught up with First Team Manager Craig Rouse to discuss the Saturday’s big win over Shildon AFC and a look forward to tomorrow night’s derby against Brighouse Town…

Rousey a big win and a return to winning ways, how pleased were you with your sides performance?

I was pleased with the performance in the main. For the first 30 minutes or so we were in complete control and again a lack of discipline puts us in a situation that we’d no reason to be drawn in to. It’s a shame because he’s been in really good form and now we’ll lose him for a few games moving forward. It’s something we need to inprove on and we’re constantly having conversations regarding it.
Having said that barring a few free headers within our box in the 2nd half we managed the game really well and went on to score another really well worked third goal.

We’ve struggled starting quickly in games this season, but Cody’s goal tees off a great start. How important was that?

We feel in most games we’ve started quite brightly but the old saying goals change games and given us mountains to climb in previous weeks. To get off to start like that was pleasing and it was a really good goal with Cody showing and receiving the ball off Lloyd, then carrying it a long way before a brilliant strike.

With a few players out this week, how happy were you with the impact of the subs that came on today?

Just as Shildon were starting to have a spell the introduction of Jerome & Adam swung the game back into our favour and got us back at the right end of the pitch. They both had a big hand in the third goal and they can both be happy with the input they had.

We now go into a big West Yorkshire Derby Tuesday with a point between the sides, how much are you looking forward to this game?

Brighouse are always very well organised and fit under Vill and they’ll be no different tomorrow. They are in good form in the league and they’ll be looking forward to the game every bit as much as we are. We’ve had a good start and this is a month with a lot of strong tests. We’re unbeaten to this point and we’ll do all we can to maintain that.
