The experienced, versatile Derry Robson became The Colls second signing of the Jimmy Williams era. A player that is no stranger to the NPL returns for his second spell at the club, where he previously played alongside his new manager.
We caught up with Derry to discuss his return and his new teammates;
Welcome back Derry, it’s been a couple of years since you were last at Ponte – how pleased are you to be back?
Very pleased to be back, its a great place to play football, the club is full of good people!
You played against a lot of the lads last year, what is it about the group that you’re looking forward to be apart of?
Ponte were a really strong outfit last year and they did great to reach the playoffs – the togetherness of the squad really stood out. I’ve played with and against a lot of the lads over the last few years and it’s a great group.
You’ve played at this level for a number of years, how will your experience add to the squad?
The squad has a lot of quality and experience as it is. I’ve had the taste of winning the playoffs with Belper since last being at ponte, I want to come here work hard and help us go one further than last season.
Finally, you know Jimmy very well, how much are you looking forward to working under him?
Jim’s a great guy and when he rang me, it was a no brainer to come back. It shows the respect he has from the lads, that so many have re-signed from last season. Really looking forward to working under him!
