We were pleased to confirm Gavin Rothery would be retained in his role as player coach foe the coming season. He had this to say on last season, recovering from injury and plans for next year.
Another year at Ponte Gav, what are you looking forward to most this season?
I’m really looking forward to starting again and working with the lads. I think it will be a really good test for us this season, to see if we can challenge higher up the league and continue the good form we had in the second half of last season!
Last season was your first, as part of the management team, how did you find it?
I really enjoyed my first season as part of the management team. It was a good transition from just focusing on playing to then thinking more about the team’s performance too and how to plan and prepare everything, to get the best results on the pitch. It was great to be a part of this and I look forward to contributing the same again next season.
You picked up an injury towards the end of the season that ruled you out, how’s the recovery going?
Yes it was disappointing to pick up the injury but the recovery is going really well. I’ve been completing my rehab and getting a few runs in. The knee is feeling good and I’ll be ready to start pre season with the boys.
Finally what are your goals for the season, both personally and as a management team?
Personally, I want to play as many games as possible and contribute my share of goals and assists to help the team. From a management team perspective, we should be aiming up the top end of the table and to look at progressing and developing the players both individually and collectively to improve the team as much as we can.
