Jack Greenhough returns for his second campaign as club captain. We discussed the experiences of last season and what could be to come this year.
Welcome back, we are heading into your second year as club captain. How did you feel last year went?
On a whole it wasn’t too bad there’s a lot of positives to take out of it, especially the second half of the season. The first half wasn’t good enough, but we got the good run in the FA cup which was a plus. We learnt a lot up to Christmas which was a learning curve for us all, and we can take that into the coming season.
You experienced a number of highs including the magical FA Cup run, how was that leading the boys out in front a packed crowd?
Leading them out in front of the home crowd was an unbelievable experience which I will never forget, it was a great occasion for all of us and the fans and it was what they deserved the were outstanding all season home and away. Then the replay at The Shay was another memory that will last a life time all over, 500 away fans which sang non-stop for the 90 mins which gave us all that extra 10%.
You picked up an injury that ruled you out towards the end of the season. How’s the recovery gone?
Yes the recovery is going well, just one step at a time and get back to full fitness. Hopefully there’s no complications when we get back started, but looking forward to getting going now.
Finally, with the new signings and those retained what are the goals for this season?
We’ve been working with a lot of the boys a good few years now and we’ve always aimed high, with the squad we have coming out of last season and the experience added will be a massive boost. We will certainly want to push for play offs this year and that’s definitely possible on the second half of the season’s form.
