Today’s home fixture saw Ponte take on Leeds City juniors in a tight affair, the A team was up 1st and where without 2 key player in Josh & Oliver so the players had to step up. As predicted both teams were evenly matched and it made for a good watch, cols settled after 10mins and started there attacking passing towards goal with Noah & Jamie out wide they were able to cross for striker Riley who was heavily outnumbered in the box.
20mins in it was cols with some defending to do as defender Reece clipped his opponent inside the box the ref had no option but toward a penalty. Striker stepped up and slotted the ball high to the keepers left only to see the flying keeper dive the right way and pull off a save. Halftime 0-0.
2nd half saw Daniel move to the defence roll with Nathan pushed into midfield and it seemed to work out well as Louis, Reece and Dan looked solid together in defence, this aloud Liam and Callum to push and support the runs of Riley and it wasn’t long until Riley looked like he beat the defender inside the box and was about to shoot but dumbied the 2nd defender before going 50/50 with the keeper in which the keeper came out on top much to the frustration of Riley. Riley then found himself in front of the defender yet again but was judged to be farley tackled inside the box by a last ditched attempt by the defender. With only 10 mins left Cols needed some kind of inspiration and only a good Captain could produce a run and cross into the box of quality for Riley to head home the winner. 1-0
