The Colls under 11 girls competed in the West End Terriers gala this weekend and secured the winners trophy on penalties, after scoring a dramatic free kick seconds before the final whistle.
The Colls were slow starters in the group stages, but eventually three wins and a draw were enough to see them progress to the semi in 2nd place with notable victories over Bramley, West End Terriers and Ponte Wildcats.
The semi final was a tough test against a strong Doncaster Belles outfit, who were eventually edged out on sudden death penalties by our rising stars, and the final against Dronfield (who had beaten us in the group stage) were eventually overturned in a dramatic finale.
The tournament is one of the biggest in the area, drawing in teams from all Yorkshire Counties and Derbyshire, so the victory was hard earned and well deserved! Congratulations to our team on the day, with ‘silverware’ already making its way back to the Beechnut in what promises to be a fantastic season ahead.
