This week’s friendly saw the Yellows and Blues come together to play Crofton. Crofton started the game strongly but excellent defending and some brilliant saves kept the score at 0-0.
Crofton continued to attack and finally managed to find the breakthrough to make it 1-0. Colls had few chances in the first half but after some fine work by Theo down the left, he was able to find Joshua on the opposite wing. A great first touch got it out of his feet and out of reach of the defender and he smashed the ball home to make it 1-1.
Crofton hit back to make it 2-1 at the break, but it could have been more if it wasn’t for some more great saves and again excellent defending.
The second half went much the same way as the first, but it was Colls who scored the only goal of the second half after some great work in defence from Zac to win a tackle and run from his own half and tuck the ball past the keeper.
Colls stood firm to secure the draw, and Myles could have won it late on but his shot from the halfway line went inches wide. All four keepers made some outstanding saves, but the effort from everyone when playing outfield was immense. Brilliant attitude to come back from a goal down twice, with some big tackles from Sebastian, Jack, Henry and Noah in defence, and great tracking and pressure from Joshua, Theo, Zak and Myles.
They all gave everything for every minute on what was a hot morning and it was a pleasure to watch those lads play all together for the first time.
