This week the Yellows travelled to Altofts, who started the game quickly and were soon piling the pressure on the Colls’ defence. but an excellent defensive display and an inspired Henry in goal kept the hosts out.
As the first half went on, Colls settled down and started to grow into the game. The defence continued to stand firm and going forward Colls started to click with several fine passing moves. The breakthrough came as the ball fell to Joshua who carried the ball forward, knocked it past the defender and his early shot flew into the back of the net. It was soon 2-0 as Joshua added his second with another fine strike.
The second half was much more even with chances for both teams. Altofts had a great chance early on when their striker broke through the defence but Noah was quickly off his line and dived bravely at the oncoming striker’s feet and smothered the ball. It wasn’t until late in the second half when Altofts made their pressure pay and hit back.
They were soon on level terms, but this set of lads never give in and they won it with the last kick of the game. Luke won a big tackle in his own area, ran the full length of the pitch and just as he was about to pull the trigger he was brought down in the area. Noah had tracked Luke’s run all the way though and when the ball rolled into his path, he smashed it past the keeper into the roof of the net. 3-2 Colls! It was an impressive display all round, with everyone winning tackles all over the pitch and loads of confidence in possession.
